To all contributing artists:

Dear Friends,

The Art for Rosie show finished its 3-week run at the Open Eye Gallery on 28th May 2008. The exhibition proved to be outstandingly successful with some 140 works sold to date. The Private Views were delightful and busy occasions, where artists and the viewing public and buyers met.

Critical comment on the show in the press has been very favourable. Duncan Macmillan of the The Scotsman of Friday 16th May wrote:

“Art for Rosie represents a remarkable act of solidarity and collective generosity. Almost 100 artists have given works….
the art is also very good...and many leading artists have contributed..It is a sort of mini-RSA (Royal Scottish Academy)”

The organisers of Art for Rosie wish to express their profound thanks to all the contributors - painters, sculptors, makers and musicians, plus the sponsors, for their warm and overwhelming generosity. Their hard work, skill and vision has made this show as memorable as it has been successful.

Special thanks must go to Pam and Tom Wilson, Directors of the Open Eye, and their delightful, professional and unfailingly tolerant staff. They created an elegant and stimulating show out of an enormous number and variety of submitted artworks. They supervised the frantically busy Private Views with calm efficiency, and they attended enthusiastically to the steady flow of enquiries and sales throughout the duration of the exhibition.

We are conscious of the great warmth and kindness of all who took part in this poignant project.

We wish to offer profound thanks to you all,

George Donald
